Our second session in our Entrepreneur Boot Camp series was every bit as good as the first! This time, in addition to collaborating with the Economic Development Committee of Community Board 16 and the Oasis Beacon Community Center at PS/IS 323, we brought in two phenomenal speakers (who just happen to be fellow Sorors) to deliver the presentation.
Jill Johnson from the Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership/WIBO helped our 11 attendees understand their business value. “You should still do your job but don’t go above and beyond staying extra hours when you could be working on your business,” she said.
Precious Williams, Esq. is the CEO of Curvy Girlz Lingerie, LLC and Perfect Pitches by Precious. Her business skyrocketed after she won the Black Enterprise 2013 Elevator Pitch Competition for presenting the year’s best business pitch.
Our entrepreneurs had the opportunity to see Precious Williams deliver a live one-minute pitch, then each got the chance to practice their own pitch while simultaneously getting feedback on how to change the pitch depending on the audience and any time constraints.
It really was a great day. We’re gearing up for our last session in the Boot Camp series, which will be held on April 18 during the Health & Wealth Expo. There, our Boot Camp participants will get a chance to deliver their business plan pitch in front of a panel of experts and other Expo attendees.
Who will win the EKC Pitch Competition People’s Choice Award? Join us on April 18 and you can cast your vote!
